Therapy for anxiety, depression, life transitions, and more — tailored to you, delivered in Glasgow or online.
If you are visiting our website, you may be thinking about getting help for the difficulties you are experiencing at this time. Considering seeing a Clinical Psychologist for psychological intervention is a great first step. Clinical Psychologists can help you to gain a better understanding of your current difficulties and can help you to work towards your goals. We hope the information on our website helps you to decide whether now is the right time for you to start therapy.
How We Can Help
At Harris Psychology, we have experience supporting a broad range of difficulties, including:
Anxiety
Phobias
Depression and low mood
Stress
Interpersonal and relationship difficulties
Sleep difficulties
Loss and adjustment issues
Grief and bereavement
Life transitions, including changes in health, relationships, perimenopause, and significant life milestones
Through experience, we recognise that many of these difficulties can arise during periods of transition. These times can feel overwhelming and may bring feelings of stress, anxiety, low mood, confusion, uncertainty, loss of identity, or a sense of feeling stuck. At Harris Psychology, we aim to support you through these experiences, helping you build resilience, develop coping strategies, and adjust with greater confidence to your new reality.
Types of Psychological Intervention that we use
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT is a structured, evidence-based therapy that focuses on understanding how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are connected.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT encourages you to accept difficult emotions as a normal part of life, rather than trying to avoid or fight them. ACT can be helpful when you're facing long-term changes, such as adjusting to a chronic illness or a major life event like retirement.
Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT)
CFT is a psychological approach designed to help individuals who struggle with shame, self-criticism, and difficulties relating to self-compassion.
What to Expect from Psychological Therapy?
Confidentiality: Your sessions will be private, and your therapist will offer a safe, non-judgmental space to explore your feelings.
Individualised care: Interventions will be tailored to your specific situation and personal needs. We always start with a comprehensive assessment. This may take 1-2 sessions. We will then together make sense of your current difficulties, thinking about how they started, and what has kept them going (this is known as a formulation). This will help guide us in choosing the right psychological intervention.
Collaborative approach: We will ensure that you feel involved in selecting the therapy that is right for you. We will give you information on what the different therapies involve and discuss the benefits of different therapies for your difficulties to help you to make an informed choice.
Goal-setting: Together we will set achievable goals for therapy, whether you want to reduce stress, improve your mood, or find a way forward after a major life change.
